(MyHostNews.com) SoftLayer has radically expanded its network-within-the-network topology by connecting its Dallas and Seattle datacenters with a dedicated 10G fiber link. The company’s private and public networks are now both connected between the cities via private, 10G point-to-point connections, providing the fastest connection with the lowest latency.

This advancement gives SoftLayer customers an even wider range of options and advantages. They can now transfer an unlimited amount of data between cities securely and free of charge. Customers using StorageLayer (SoftLayer’s proprietary storage solution which includes EVault backup, NAS, and ISCSI storage) will have improved failover capabilities, with high-speed access to both sites for onsite or offsite backup and disaster recovery, and ISCSI snapshots and global datacenter-to-datacenter replication for higher protection. In addition, customers can now access the private network via out-of-band VPN connections in either Dallas or Seattle.
