Memset, UK’s hosted IT services provider, announced that last week it recieved the Guildford Green Award at the annual 2007/2008 Guildford Life with Style Awards.

The company states that judged by a panel of senior executives from organisations around the borough, the judges were impressed with their initiatives to not only minimise their impact on the environment, but to benefit the wider community as well.

The company avers that it was their investment in energy-saving technologies for its business with their Miniserver Virtual Machines, being the first ISP to go carbon neutral in 2006 and their scheme for staff to travel to and from work on electric bikes that saw them placed among 40 finalists selected from over 300 entries.

Kate Craig-Wood, MD of Memset was in attendance to receive the award and commented: “We’re delighted to have won this category in the Guildford awards. Since I founded the company in 2002, I have always ensured that we remain committed to the environment and make sure we minimise the impact of every business activity we perform. The initiatives that we have been recognised for, are not only good for the environment but for business too, and we hope other businesses will be encouraged to look at their impact on the environment as well.”
