Sedo, an online marketplace for the buying and selling of domain names, today announced it will host an online auction of sought after global and travel-related domain names starting February 13. It declared that ‘Around the World in 7 Days’ auction will be hosted on the Sedo website and will run from 2:00 pm EST on February 13 to approximately 2:00 pm EST on February 20.

The company states that due the limited availability of geographical domain names in the market, it has organized a focused auction on geodomains and other travel-related domain names to make them more attainable for buyers while offering a targeted buyer base to domain sellers. In addition it states that the auction will feature precious properties, including names like Arabia.com, Breaks.com, Glasgow.com, Kosovo.com, and PureVacation.com.

“The interest in geodomains is growing significantly. For instance, it is estimated that hundreds of millions of dollars in hotel sales result from visits to established and parked geodomain sites each year, so it is clear the impact that geography specific domains can have on a market,” said Tim Schumacher, chief executive officer of Sedo. “As travel-related domain names continue to rise in value, we are offering this ‘Around the World’ auction to connect buyers with domain names that are increasingly more difficult to acquire.”
