LONDON, United Kingdom - June 2, 2008 - Technosummits has announced the
line-up of speakers for the second annual Broadband Connect Summit
taking place on 30 June 2008 at the Courthouse Hotel Kempinski in
London.
The agenda focuses on “Enabling fixed and wireless networks for
broadband media services”. Panellists and speakers will address how the
next generation networks will bring entertainment to the home and to the
handset.
IPTV, wireless and mobile broadband service offerings are some of key
topics areas included in this summit’s panel discussions.
Dr. William Cooper, founder and CEO of informitv, the chair for this
summit, will provide the welcome introduction against the backdrop of
increasing pressure on current infrastructure as consumers demand rich
media over broadband and on mobile devices.
Bill Scott, Leader of Digital Consumer Media and Entertainment at IBM
will provide the morning keynote “Next Generation media consumption: Who
Pays?” He will discuss the rapidly changing landscape and what motivates
telcos and internet service providers to invest more on network
infrastructure to meet demands and create new revenue streams.
Allan Hadden, President of the Global Mobile Suppliers Association (GSA)
will provide the afternoon keynote focusing on the current trends and
future prospects for mobile broadband.
There will be two panels for this event. The morning session, moderated
by Anette Schaefer from Yankee Group, will focus on “TV is Dead, Long
Live IPTV”. It brings together speakers including Richard Young of BT
Vision, Simon Danker form the BBC Worldwide, Myles Macbean from Disney
online, Chris Brake from Virgin Media and Suranga Chandratillake from
blinkx.
The afternoon session, moderated by Dr. Katja Mueller from Point Topic,
will tackle issues on “Mobile and Wireless Broadband on the Go: a must
have or just hype” and panellists include Russel Buckley of Admob,
Houston Spencer from Alcatel-Lucent, Niall Murphy of The Cloud and Andy
McKinnon from Motorola.
Eran Rom, CEO of Jungo, who will discuss “Delivering profitable and
cost-effective gateway solutions”, commented: “The need for bandwidth is
constantly growing which requires state of the art software solution
which is cost effective and sustainable.”
