(PRESSbooth.ORG) — A new social network for UK teens has just launched in beta. www.speaklife.co.uk is an online community for 13 to 19 year olds who want to chill out with friends online.
Speaklife.co.uk wants to be the complete online teen community and resouce for UK teenagers; a place where they can come to meet new friends and talk about issues that are important to them. But more than that, speaklife.co.uk wants UK teens to have a say in how the site is being built. Unlike other teen social networks such as MySpace and Facebook, speaklife.co.uk allows users to control the look and feel of the site so that it functions the way they want.
What makes Speaklife.co.uk unique is that users can have a say over what features their new community has. The new site features all the traditional elements of social networks like MySpace making it easier for users to connect online. Users can log on to update their profile, post photos, stories and blogs as well as join discussion forums to start discussions with other teenagers. There’s also a free online teen articles section where users can get information and articles relevant to their teenage years. And while surfing on the site, users can listen to the free online radio playing a selection of music hits from pop to rock and R&B. But this is not all: users can add and remove sections by submitting a request with site administrators.
Speaklife.co.uk wants the website to serve British teens and cater to their needs. Nick, founder of speaklife.co.uk explains, “Speaklife.co.uk is a website for UK teens and what this means is that they can control every element of the site, from the social network to the resource centre and free online radio station. We have no big media moguls or marketing department calling the shots; our users decide what they want their site to look like so that it serves them in a way that meets their needs. After all, this site is here for our users and we hope that they will keep us tuned to what it is they want.”
To join the new social network is quite easy. Users need to sign up by going to www.speaklife.co.uk where they can set up a profile, post pictures and invite their friends to join.
